Hi everyone. Well, this is just going to be an update on where I'm at right now. According to Goodreads, I'm reading 11 books, which is kind of true, and I think some of those books have kind of slipped onto the back burner, but they're there and I'm still interested in reading them. It's funny how that happens. Unfortunately, I get so many books that I find myself looking ahead to what I'm getting that's supposed to come out months from now, and thinking about whether I should include it on my list of definites. So it's a tough process, I have to tell you. And I don't envy anybody who is an agent who has to wade through queries. I now understand. I now understand all that part of it. Anyway, having said that, I have been trying to read what I can of this book, which is absolutely fantastic.
Producer to Producer by Maureen Ryan. Anybody who's interested in making a film needs to read this book, and if you can get a workshop with Maureen Ryan, so much the better. She's wonderful, a wonderful instructor. And I'm also preparing for this. This is a little guide to how to score participants in a mock trial. Yes, I'm going to be a scoring judge in a mock trial taking place in my county, so I'm glad to do that. As someone who used to practice law, who went to law school and knows a thing or two about how to read the statute, it's been interesting to look through the material. It's like exercising a different part of my brain again. So that's always kind of nice, actually. It's nice to do something apart from what you usually do, just to get a different perspective on things. I think the other thing I was going to say was, yeah, I'm in the middle of casting, as they say, I guess, right?
Casting for the roles in my short film. I went to the auditions, it was a week ago Saturday, last Saturday, it was a week before that. It was March 1st. And I saw some actors who really, really just seemed to click with the roles. So I'm doing what are called callbacks, which I'm hoping I can manage efficiently and productively. There, I said it. Okay, efficiently and productively. And it's just, I love watching actors work and I'm just amazed by them and I love hearing them read lines. So I'm looking forward to doing this. Really. It's going to be really interesting and I hope fun for everyone, and I hope everybody comes out of this feeling like, "Wow, what a great experience."
That's my hope. So meanwhile, I'm reading up on what an assistant director does. I'm like, okay, what does an assistant director do? I'd like to know about that. And I'm looking at it and thinking, "My, it looks a lot like what I've been doing," and I'm not going to have a huge crew, so maybe I don't need an assistant director. Or maybe it would be fun to have one, just to have one there. I'll tell you one thing. I wish I had been more of an assistant director. In fact, now I'm beginning to think I should volunteer for that somewhere along the line. Either assistant director or script supervisor, something where I can get involved with all the departments. So, I don't know. These are just random thoughts. Who knows what I'll do, who knows what I'll have time to do in between. I just came back from occupational and physical therapy, my whole morning was there pretty much. I always feel better afterward. I always feel more hopeful. So this is a good time to catch me. Alright. Anyway, that was it. That's my update and I will be seeing you. Talk to you later!
Be seeing you! :)
